Sanibel Bicycle Club Safety Initiatives

February 2016: Member Skits Support Bike Safety

In February 2016 the Club devoted a dinner potluck meeting to cycling safety principles. A number of members participated in various skits to emphasize the rules. A video of the skits can be seen below. Thanks to director Jeanne Mallon and her co-conspirators.

Note: In order to protect the reputations of participants (and to avoid any criminal charges being filed for overacting), this video will be available for only a mercifully brief time.

Bumper Sticker

In February 2016 the Sanibel Bicycle Club led a community-wide effort to create greater awareness of state law requiring motorists to provide cyclists with a 3-foot margin of safety. The effort included printing and distribution of bumper stickers and decals, and was financially supported by Billy's Bikes and Rentals, BikeWalkLee and The Bike Bistro.
